So... where can you talk about anime with people?

I've noticed that most of my threads aren't about any anime directly, but rather about things tangential to anime.
I kinda miss talking about anime with people (Which is a strange thing to say in an anime website), but I'm not currently in any fandoms, and I don't think there are that many people watching the type of stuff I'm currently watching.

So, how do you usually deal with this?

You are currently watching Apothecary Diaries, ReZero, and Dr. Stone. What do you mean people aren't watching them?

@Zarutaku
Yeah, I made a thread that flopped hard earlier this month on how I wished there was a way to curate those posts for only anime I've watched: What's the easiest way to follow "Series Discussion" from the anime in my list?
You were there.

@Neterosan
Well, that part was referring to non-seasonals.
But even about them, I'm as surprised as you are that no one in the places I'm currently at seems to talk about them.
I'm only hear about Re:Zero because I'm on a FB group about it (Which I entered when it was in season 2) and some sparse Twitter posts that get into my feed.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto I only find people talking about it on /a/, where it it very popular.
I don't see people talkint about Dr Stone anywhere, really.

The first rule of anime is that you don't talk about anime

On reddit , in real life with friends , on discord in some occasion or other social media

I mainly talk with my friend in person, but sometimes there are just animes that I don't have anyone to talk to. And I guess that is fine. Like I had absolutely no one to talk to about Fruits Basket when I watched it and even though that was kind of shit that just happens sometimes. I basically went through it watching YouTube reactions and analyses and basically that.

I rarely starts conversation's myself, but if someone write's to me I would talk - I don't seek out conversation's, as most of the time, people don't want to share long pharagraphs everyday - which is a shame, cause I like that. That's why I like MAL messaging system, it feels slower - less urgent than discord - well like mail. That's the point XD.

Even so, I'm mostly happy with reading other's opinion's than sharing mine. I mean I do share my opinion's, I just rarely get any feedback from them.

I also kinda treat thread's like voids. Someone asks a question, I and 10 other people respond to it - the person who made the thread, rarely responds to the feedback/opinions and sometimes someone on the forum quotes you or not. It's rarely a conversation

Every episode of an anime on here has a discussion, you can join that, but forums are about posting a thing and usually moving on. Forums are a bit outdated as well, but there's plenty of social media sites for discussions. If you play video games, I found whenever I was playing a MMO like Final Fantasy XIV, and I'm in a large chat group like the one for mentors and new players, every time there'd be chatter about anime or games or whatever while we're playing the game.

Imagine talking about anime with other people. Kinda cringe, isn't it?

Everyones mindset towards topics has changed, so you can't really have an honest discussion about anime without finding a private group willing to have one. Negative and ironic people can hold any conversation about anime hostage on the open net.

@Szczelajo I have the feeling when people don't answer, they got the point and moved on. It is normally when they reply that they didn't get or agree. Whoever created the minimum size was against talks and feedback too. And this has happened to a lot of comments you did too, like, cool point, but replying that wouldn't go anywhere.

@Sasori56483 yeah I fully get that, It's not an issue for me really, It's just how threads works.

I mostly curb the feeling.
Unless it is something that directly connects to one of my friends or group of them, I post small notes in my profile, as status in discord, I've tried blog posting.

I also don't like giving out spoilers, so anytime I talk about something I already watched/read to someone else who is watching, it feels like walking over eggs, and I foster the watching over part. I prefer to swallow up a cool thing than share and spoil it. And I have very few people who I don't have to take this care.
I have been thinking of blogging more when it is just to take out of the system, something that is well done. Sites used to have previews and reviews, preview to see if it's worthy and reviews would be full of spoilers, details and sections. But then there is the part of me that is saying, shut up and dance, nobody needs reviews anymore.

Luckily, I can do parasocial readings of other people blogs and feel ok too. https://fanmami.sakura.ne.jp/ojamajo-siri-zu.html https://hawaii1999.neocities.org/mahodou http://www.shoujo-cafe.com/2024/08/ojamajo-do-re-mi-ganha-novo-video.html

Usually I just gush and scream about what I'm watching to friends in our discord server, and they do the same about their series... Otherwise I just go to social media. Though, unless the series is still ongoing or Big Classic TM, the discussion is usually pretty dead by the time I get to it. C'est la Vie, I'll just scream into the void anyways.

With friends/in my Discord server, MyAnimeList, posting into the void on my virtually unread blogs, rarely social media, never IRL, never stuff like Reddit.

There are many active clubs on here, if you're using the app version, then you can post inside the club, where people can see it. The desktop version is different, where it's a bit harder to see comments and have conversations. If you want to talk about something specific, there are a few places on each anime page: you can make a discussion thread in there, or post a review.

I can't even download the app version, it says that my phone does not support it.

Best anime discussions happen within a group of friends (IRL and online) because you don't have to deal with horrendous takes, so you gotta make friends. There's also anime & episode specific discussions on here, but I don't know how active they are for less popular anime

You could also look at your Anime Affinity with the people on your friends list, check which ones are shared and then start a conversation from there.
But yea, sadly better discussions are starting to need more of a direct connection with people and groups instead of just an an open area like a thread.
